I agree with 64 red....small scratch on the obv keeps it from a 65.....not sure if that wee bit o' green at the top of the wreath affects it or not. I'm sure in hand it is probable not noticeable.

    << <i>64RD with verdigris. >>

Aside from deep scratch to the right of U on the obverse and some chatter to the right of the shield on the reverse, the coin looks pristine to me. I'm curious if the green crap will end up in point deductions when graded (see the M in AMERICA and the top of the left stalk on reverse). I agree with RD and the verdigris, but it looks 65 or 66 quality otherwise.image

I'd give it a 64RD. Could it be an AU64?

    Very nice coin!

65RB was my first thought. Ifthe darkness is contrast shadows then 65RD.

    64RB

Taken down a point from 65RB by tick below chin, reverse verdigris and dull appearance.
I'd like my copper well done please!

From the photo, probably MS64 RB, but if possible that verdigris should be removed before it gets into a holder.

64RB. Very nice. The scratch on the obverse is unfortunate.

    64. The lack of focus at the top of the images leaves me wondering. Try shooting square?

Can't tell color from the photos. Would guess RB.

    Nice '04!

  • That verdigris looks like a carbon spot from here. If it is verdigris, someone said it should be removed if possible. Just precisely how is that done? image

The first red "x" is pristine and the second red "x" is an exact perfect match. image

Did ANACS way undergrade that coin or is the photo hiding something?

The grades of 61 and 62 were not used when this coin was graded. If anacs felt it did not reach the 63 level, it was assigned a 60. A couple of years back I had proof Indian graded as PF60/60, graded in 1981. I sent it in so see how it compared to current standards, and it came back PF63BN.

Thanks for the history lesson. I was not aware of that 61/62 were not used. Maybe in another 10 years we will see AU57 and AU59image
